A Healthy Choice: Experiences and Influences

It is easy to give credit to every type of stylist except the one who helps shape our lives. We’ve kicked people out of our church for committing sins that we’re too afraid to entertain; yet, crave each night. This is not talking about pastors but about the things that we worship. No, this is not talking about religion, either. This is about our secret obsessions; in fact, our experiences and influences.

Experience and influences will either taper or tailor our perception. How we perceive things often, if not, always determine our reception.  If unable to receive, we repel by means of rebellion.  The revolt that we start, ignites within us.  This fire doesn’t burn as a means of passion but of regret and remorse, producing the smoke of a foundation of degenerative actions.   Some call them generational curses, corruptible thinking, and/or toxic behavior.   Regardless of the labeling, one thing for sure, it is tied to our healing.   This is why experience is essential but not as much as understanding the things that influence us.   These influences can come in many forms and/or shapes; but what’s uncontrollably terrifying, is the effect they have on our character, development, and behaviors, the things that aid in our perception of self.

See, far too often, there is a casting expectation to profess healing or being healed prematurely.   Many of us are afraid to heal; better yet, we are unaware of the associations of healing.  We were persuaded to believe that healing was a single miraculous event, only later to discover that It is a lifestyle.   Yes, healing is a lifestyle.  This is echoed within the definition of being a “process.”  If healing is the process of being healthy, then one could conclude that healing stops when we stop.  Yes, commitment issues can delay our ability to heal.  Therefore, when symptoms seem to return, we must not give up and become dispirited. We must continue to exercise, continue to work, continue the lifestyle.

There is a damaging narration that biological sex needs healing differently.   I’d have to disagree.   Though the bodies are different, and because of that, there is a need for special attention to certain areas, they all require commitment.  Yes, commitment to the process and determination to uncover the influencers.  What lies beneath, has a source.  Are we willing to uproot the diseased and mutated roots in our lives?  There is only but so much trimming and pruning will do.   Now, we must be committed to reestablishing ourselves in healthier soil.   Rather experience, influence, commitment, or healing, all start with the action of choice.   We will heal once we decide to choose a lifestyle that produces it.
